ROSCOE APLIN

     Roscoe Roland "Bud" Aplin, a longtime Husum resident, died Aug. 29, 1997, in White Salmon, at the age of 76.
     Mr. Aplin was born Nov. 24, 1920, in Oregon to Martha (Wolfe) and Raleigh R. Aplin. He grew up in Dilly, Ore. He married Hazel E. Hatch of Goldendale on Nov. 20, 1943, in Coquille, Ore. They lived on the Oregon Coast until moving to the White Salmon area in1944. They moved to Husum in 1946.
     He worked for Rees Stevenson for many years as a mechanic. He was a fireman for the Cherry Lane and Husum Fire departments. He was chief for the Husum Fire Department and a reserve police officer for Bingen and White Salmon. He collected guns and worked on motor scooters and motorcycles as a hobby.
     Mr. Aplin is survived by his wife, Hazel, Husum; daughter Betty Jean Canilao, Fairview, Ore., son Roland Ray Aplin, Vancouver; sisters Eileen Green and Mildred Shorter, both of White Salmon; half sister Arita Shock, Crescent City, Calif; aunt Mildred "Bing" Aplin; grandchildren, great-grandchildren and step-grandchildren.
     Graveside services will he held Friday, Sept. 5, 1997, at 2 p.m. at the White Salmon Cemetery.
     Arrangements were handled by Gardner Funeral Home, White Salmon.

     He is survived by his wife, Hazel, daughter Betty Jean Canilao of Fairview, Ore.; a son Roland Ray Aplin of Vancouver, Wash.; his sisters Eileen Green and Mildred Shorter both of White Salmon; a half sister Arita Shock of Crescent City, Calif.; an aunt Mildred "Bing" Alpin as well as great grandchildren, grandchildren and step grandchildren.
     Graveside services were held Sept. 5, at the White Salmon cemetery. Gardner Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
