RICHARD BARVERSTOCK PASSES AWAY - The following obituary notice has been handed in to the AGRI.: Richard S. Barverstock, a respected citizen, a noble veteran in the civil war, and a most exemplary and christian man, passed from labor to reward at his residence near Blockhouse, on May 3, 1903. The deceased was born in Vermont, Nov. 19, 1826, and in 1856 was married to Jane Pardy. In the early seventies he moved to Klickitat, and to the section of the county where he died. Mr. Barverstock served his country seven years as a soldier, and participated in 23 battles - some of the fiercest that where fought. In 1898 he united with the M.E. church of Goldendale, and was a most faithful member till called to the church triumphant. A wife, four sons and one daughter, survive him. The funeral service was held at the Spring Creek schoolhouse, and conducted by his pastor, Rev. H.B. Elworthy. A large number of friends and citizens followed the remains to the cemetery, the closing ceremonies been conducted by Baker Post, G.A.R., of Goldendale.
