RITES TUESDAY AT GARDNER'S FOR RODGER COATE
Rodger Sherman Coate passed away at Skyline Hospital
in White Salmon on April 22nd at the age of 68 years. He was born in Trout
Lake, Washington on August 27, 1903 to Francis and Anabelle Coate.
Mr. Coate had been a dairy farmer and had lived and worked
in Trout Lake all of his life until 1962 when he and his wife moved to White
Salmon.
He was married to Wilma Norton in Camas, Washington on
July 3, 1935.
He had been Exalted Ruler of the B.P.O.E #1868 in 1961,
he was Past Master of the Trout Lake Grange #210 and a member of the Presbyterian
Church of Trout Lake.
Surviving him is his wife, Wilma Coate of White Salmon;
a son, Gerald Coate of White Salmon; two daughters, Mrs. A.V. Winter of Salem,
Oregon and Mrs. R.A. Gillis of Olympia, Washington. A sister; Martha E. Huffman
of Eugene, Oregon and nine grandchildren and a number of cousins and other
relatives.
Funeral services were held at Gardner's Funeral Home
in White Salmon, Washington on April 25th at 11:00 a.m. Interment was in
the Trout Lake Cemetery, Trout Lake, Washington. Rev. Mr. Donald Kaelin of
the United Methodist Church of White Salmon officiated.
Active Casket Bearers were; Doyle Van Deventer, Tommy
E. Burkell, Wayne Carlock, O.P. Kreps, Francis E. Logan, Wilbur Marsh.
Honorary Casket Bearers were: Al Murphy, Myron Halse,
Herman Enos, William E. Logan and Harold Fordyce.
