RICHARD WILLIAM MILLER
Richard William Miller was born January 15, 1927 in Seattle,
Washington. He grew up on the farm homesteaded by his late pioneer grandfather,
Miller.
Richard attended both the grade and high schools in White
Salmon. His chief interests were music, agriculture and shop. He was a member
of both the school band and orchestra from the time they were organized until
he graduated. He was also active in the Future Farmers of America. All the
farm animals were his pets. Hiking through the woods, with his dog, for company,
was a favorite pastime.
Richard graduated from Columbia high school in 1944.
He was inducted into the army before Commencement and stationed at Camp Hood,
Texas, where he completed his basic training. At Camp Moxey, Texas, he became
ill and never fully regained his health. He was honorably discharged from
the army and enjoyed the summer at home before returning to the Veterans
hospital in Portland, Oregon, where he passed away Sept. 17, 1946. He was
nineteen years, eight months and two days of age.
He leaves his mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. Sidney
Miller, one sister, Donna Marie Miller, and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. W.H.
Thompson, besides many other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
