SARAH BERTSCHI

     Sarah A. Bertschi, a resident of Lyle for the last 50 years, died Monday in The Dalles at the age of 71.
     Mrs. Bertschi was born Aug. 23, 1911, in Nyssa, Ore., to Mr. and Mrs. John R. Evans. She was a homemaker and a member of the Order of Eastern Star No. 107 and the Goldendale Grange.
     She is survived by her husband, Ray, Lyle; a son, Jerry Bertschi, Lyle; a sister, Zella Hammitt, Portland; two grandsons, Jerry R. Bertschi and Lee Bertschi, both of Lyle; and two great-grandchildren, David and Christina Bertschi, Lyle.                  Graveside services will be held today (Thursday) at Balch Cemetery in Lyle with Rev. Carol Davies officiating.                    Contributions may be made to the Lyle Scholarship Fund, in care of Masonic Lodge No. 163, White Salmon.
