SARAH AMANDA BESS
Mrs. Sarah Amanda Bess, mother of Mrs. C.H. Estes, of
this city, passed away at the home of her daughter on November 2, 1940.
Mrs. Bess was born in Nashville, Tennessee, July 22,
1855. In 1874 she was married to Andrew J. Bess, in Bloomfield, Missouri.
In October 1909 they moved to White Salmon where they have lived for many
years.
She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Mary Aslin,
of Camas, Washington; Mrs. Matty Roberts, of Camas, Washington, and Mrs.
Charles H. Estes, of White Salmon; one son, Charles Bess, of Portland; many
grandchildren, and several great grandchildren.
The funeral services were held November 3, 1940, at
two-thirty at Gardner's Chapel in White Salmon. Rev. Joseph Reynolds was
the officiating minister. Interment was in the I.O.O.F. cemetery.
