SYLVIA A. LEATON

     Sylvia A Leaton, age 83, passed away Jan. 2, 1996, in her home in Glenwood. Sylvia A. Leaton was born July 5, 1912, in Butte, Mont. to Enni (Pakkarian) and Charles Wayne. As a youngster, she and her family moved to Tacoma. She graduated from University of Puget Sound in 1935 and taught at Vaughn Union High School from 1937-39.
     She married William R Leaton in Poulsbo, June 26, 1941. They moved to Glenwood, where they have lived since. Bill died in 1988.
     She returned to the University of Washington for her Certificate of Library Training in 1954 and attended University of Vermont in the summer of 1967 for mathematics courses. She taught in the Glenwood School for many years, retiring about 1974.
     She was active in the Women's Club, Ladies Aid and Delta Kappa Gamma.
     Survivors include: daughters, Maryanita Addington of Glenwood and Claudia Hoffbauer of Yakima, "Adopted" Children; Frank Leaton of Lubbock, Texas, Faye Leaton Neff of Gig Harbor; sister, Anita Miller of Encinitas, Calif. and brother, Arnie Helin of Lacey, Wash. Grandchildren; Dale Hoffbauer, Salt Lake City of Utah, Bill Addington of Glenwood, Bernadean Addington of Pullman/Glenwood.
     She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband William Leaton, Jr. and son James W. Leaton.
     Contributions may be given to James Leaton Scholarship Fund c/o Glenwood School or Skyline Foundation c/o Gardner Funeral Home.
     Funeral Services were Friday, Jan. 5, 1996, at Gardner Funeral Home White Salmon. Officiating Pastor was Greg Petri. Committal Vault Interment White Salmon Cemetery. Gardner Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

     Mrs. Lemon is survived by her daughters Maryanita Addington, Glenwood, and Claudia Hoffbauer, Yakima; adopted children Frank Leaton, Lubbock, Texas, Faye Leaton Neff, Gig Harbor; sister Anita Miller, Encinitas, Calif.; brother Arnie Helm Lacey; grandchildren Dale Hoffbauer, Salt Lake City, Utah, Bill Addington, Glenwood, and Vernadean Addington, Pullman/Glenwood. Mrs. Leaton was preceded in death by her parents, her husband William Leaton Jr., and son James W. Leaton.
     Services for Mrs. Leaton were held Friday, Jan. 5, 1996, at 11 a.m. at Gardner Funeral Home in White Salmon, with Pastor Greg Petrie officiating. Vault interment was at White Salmon Cemetery.
     Memorials may be given to James Leaton Scholarship Fund in care of the Glenwood School or Skyline Foundation in care of Gardner Funeral Home, who was in charge of the arrangements.
