SYDNEY RIPPEE

Former Trout Lake resident Sydney Rippee died at her home in Beaverton, Ore, on Sept. 12, 2003.
Born in Oakland, Ore. on Aug. 9, 1936 and raised in Trout Lake, she grew up surrounded by the love of her father and mother, Lawrence and Bettina McCuistion and the support of the small mountain community. Encouraged by her musically artistic mother, she became an accomplished pianist and vocalist. She was active in many choirs and vocal groups, was a wonderful cook and earned the distinction of Master Gardener.
Mrs. Rippee focused on the good in others and maintained a positive outlook on life, even though battling MS for more than a decade. She loved and was deeply loved by her family and many friends, whom she encouraged to enjoy life as she had done so much herself.
She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Marvin; daughter, Elizabeth Wilson, Indianola; sons, Glenn Hollenbeck and Brian Hollenbeck, both of Portland; mother, Bettina McCuistion, Trout Lake; eight grandchildren, Sara, Morgan, Ron, Syd, Mele, Brice, Tim and Jenna; and great-grandchildren; Erik, Grace and Maya.
At her request, a formal memorial service will not be held.
