Mrs. Sarah Splawn, another one of the old settlers passed
away at the home of her father and mother, Mrs. Wm. Garner, 4 miles north
of Lyle, on Thursday last, having been in ill health for several years,
continually failing since the death of her husband.
Mrs. Splawn, nee Miss Sarah Garner, was born at Medford,
Ill., on Dec. 2, 1868, went to Oregon with her parents when she was 12 years
old; from there to Klickitat County. She was united in marriage to Marion
M. Splawn, who died December 28, 1916.
Mrs. Splawn is survived by three sons, William F., Eugene
M., and John I., all of Lyle.
The funeral took place Friday last, Rev. Lauther of Appleton
officiating at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Garner. She was laid to rest beside
her husband in the Lyle Cemetery.
