SELMA E. TURNER
Selma Evera Turner, White Salmon, died Oct. 25, 1993
in Hood River. She was 92.
Mrs. Turner was born Jan. 4, 1901 in Concordia, Kan.,
to Agnes (Marrs) and Otto Johnson. She grew up in Kansas, marrying Harry
T. Turner on Sept. 14, 1921 in Lawrence. They moved to Oregon in 1939 and
to Trout Lake, where they owned a dairy, in 1949. The couple moved to Stevenson,
where Mr. Turner worked as a deputy sheriff for the Skamania County Sheriff's
Department, in the '70s. After Mr. Turner's retirement they moved to White
Salmon. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Stevenson.
Mrs. Turner is survived by son Don Turner, Beaverton,
Ore.; brother Leslie Johnson, Hemet, Calif.; sister, Mary Johnson, Yucaipa,
Calif.; eight grandchildren and several great grandchildren. She was preceded
in death by her husband, Harry, in 1985, and two sons, Eugene and Frank.
Funeral services for Mrs. Turner were held Friday, Oct.
29, at 11 a.m., at Gardner Funeral Home in White Salmon, with Rev. Bernard
Turner officiating. Interment was at Trout Lake Cemetery.
Gardner Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
