LYLE COMMUNITY SADDENED BY DEATH OF SYLVIA STRATTON
This community was deeply saddened at the passing of
Mrs. Sylvia I. Stratton at Skyline Hospital Sunday, March 20. Funeral services
were held Wednesday, March 23, at the Gardner chapel in White Salmon. Columbia
Grange No. 87 held the graveside services.
Mr. and Mrs. Stratton moved to Lyle in 1910. Mr. Stratton
died two years ago. They lived in Lyle until several years ago when they
moved to the nursing home in Hood River, then into one at Bonneville. Mrs.
Stratton was a charter member of the Lyle Women's Club, organized in 1914,
and was an honorary member of Columbia Grange. She was very active in community
affairs for many years. Surviving are three sons, Vern of Astoria; Emile,
White Salmon, and Kenneth, Eastern Oregon.
