S. M. MOORE
The funeral services of Mr. S.M. Moore were conducted
at the Congregational Church Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock by Rev. Alfred
E. Derby.
Mrs. Derby and sister, Mrs. Minnie Maness, of Seattle,
sang a duet, "The Lights of Home" and a quartet composed of Mr. Balsiger,
Rev. Derby, Miss Esther Balsiger and Mrs. Maness, sang "Some Time We'll
Understand". The I.O.O.F lodge of this city attended the funeral in a body.
The services in the grave at the I.O.O.F cemetery were in charge of the I.O.O.F
Encampment Degree.
S.M. Moore was born in Carroll county, Virginia, April
28, 1868 and passed away at his home in White Salmon on May 27th, 1929. He
is survived by his widow, one son, Roscoe Moore, two stepsons and one
step-daughter, of this city, two daughters living in Virginia, five sisters
living in Carol, Virginia, two brothers in Virginia, and one brother, Ernest
Moore, of Lone Rock, Oregon, was present.
Mr. Moore was a charter member of Cole Creew Lodge, Va,
I.O.O.F. for thirty years and a member of the Encampment degree of White
Salmon. He came West in 1913 and resided in this section until his
death.
He was a faithful member of Odd Fellowship and practiced
those principles that make men social and humane.
