SOPHIE NELLIE DICKENS
Sophie Nellie Dickens of White Salmon died October 3,
1994 in White Salmon.
She was born Jan. 13, 1908 in Coketon, WV., to Aniela
(Haznor) and Pete Garvick. She grew up in West Virginia and moved west in
the late 1920s.
Mrs. Dickens married Homer Dickens in Idaho. The couple
lived in Sandpoint, Idaho for many years.
They moved to White Salmon in 1948 where she resided
until her death.
She was an active member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
She en-joyed activities with Senior Citizens.
She loved to knit, crochet and work in her
garden.
Mrs. Dickens was preeeded in death by her husband Homer,
her daughter Dolores Maupin, her sons Henry, Jim and Raymond,. three brothers
and two sisters.
She is survived by her daughters Dorothy VanDeventer
of Underwood, and Jannette Wray of Breinerton; and her sister Phyllis Narrish
of Wheeling, WV. She had 10 grandchildren, and 15
great-grandchildren.
The family suggests contributions in her name be given
to the St. Joseph's Altar Society or to White Salmon Senior
Citizens.
Funeral services for Mrs. Dickens will be held at St.
Joseph's Catholic Church Friday, Oct. 7 at 11 a.m.; the Rev. Joseph Reeves
will officiate the service.
