SUSIE CHRISTIAN SERVICES TODAY IN TROUT LAKE
Susie R. Christian was born February 4, 1892 in Wisconsin,
the daughter of Regina and Albert Elmer. The family moved from Wisconsin
when she was about ten years of age and they settled in the Trout Lake Valley,
where she lived most of her life.
In Goldendale, Washington on December 6, 1939 she was
united in marriage to Jesse D. Christian. They have made they home in Seabeck,
Washington the past ten years. She passed away there on September 21st at
the age on 83 years. Surviving besides her husband,
Jesse of Seabeck, are; a daughter, Rose Haddock of Yacolt, Washington; a
son, Thomas E. Burkell of Seabeck; a step-daughter, Mrs. Eldon Bowers of
Winlock, Washington; three brothers; William Elmer of Parkdale, Oregon, Walter
Elmer of Portland, Oregon and Dick Elmer of Sherwood, Oregon; three sisters,
Rose Wilson of White Salmon, Washington, Hulda Borigo of Palo Alto, California
and Leona Nelson of San Bernardino, California. There are three grandchildren
and three step-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Sept. 25, 1 p.m.
in Trout Lake at the Mt. Adams Larger Parish Presbyterian Church with the
Rev. James P. McGugin officiating. Interment was at Trout Lake Grange Cemetery.
Casket bearers were: Thomas W. Burkell, Ronald Burkell,
Donald Bowers, Jimmie Sund, Rex Wilson and Larry Joe Wilson.
Honorary bearers were: Melvin Wilson and Larry Wilson.

SUSIE CHRISTIAN
Susie R. (Mrs. Jesse) Christian, 83, PO Box 144, Seabeck,
died Sunday at the Belmont Terrace Nursing Home.
She was born Feb. 14, 1892 in Madison, Wis., and her
family moved to Washington when she was 12 years old and homesteaded at Trout
Lake, Klickitat County. She and her husband, Jesse, served in the Forest
Service together and operated grocery stores in the Trout Lake area for over
20 years. She had been a resident of Seabeck since 1964. She was a member
of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Grange of Trout Lake.
Mrs. Christian is survived by her husband, Jesse, at
the family home; a son, Thomas Burkell, Seabeck; a daughter, Rose (Mrs. Virgil)
Haddock, Yacolt; a step-daughter, Mrs. Rose Bower, Winlock; six grandchildren;
and two great grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Trout Lake with
burial to follow at Trout Lake Cemetery. Local arrangements under the direction
of Lewis Funeral Chapel.
