SHIRLEY ELLISON
Shirley Rose Ellison, 65, a resident of The Dalles, died
at her home on Sunday, Nov. 19, 2000.
She was born July 30, 1935, in Goldendale, the only child
of Walter M. and Mildred (Margado) Ladiges. She grew up in Glenwood and
Sacramento, Calif. She graduated from high school in 1953, in Sacramento.
After high school, she lived in the San Francisco Bay area.
She worked government services for the U.S. Army at Fort
Ord, Calif., and later for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Bonneville
Locks and Dam. She lived in Carson from 1968 to 1974, then in Sweet Home
until moving to The Dalles in 1981.
She was a member of the Lady Elks Emblem Club and enjoyed
flowers, RV traveling, Gleaners and her grandchildren. She also enjoyed
"mothering" numerous college age firefighters with barbecues and
get-togethers.
She is survived by her husband, Darwin Lee Ellison, whom
she married on July 19, 1974, in Yakima; her children George H. Gale, Grande
Ronde, Carl Gale, The Dalles, Terra Talon, Boise, Idaho, Laurry D. Kelly,
Toledo, Danny Kelly, Grand Ronde, Carolyn Becker, Roberta Burnhardt and Debra
Anne Jarrell, all of Vancouver, Terry Lee Ellison and Leslie S. Ellison,
both of Carson; and 11 grandchildren Jeremy, Kenneth, Shantel, Terrina, Melissa,
Raymond, Randy, Jason, Jeremie, Joseph and Dustin.
Committal services will be held at Glenwood Cemetery
at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 25, with memorial services following at the Glenwood
School.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Gorge, 751 Myrtle
St., The Dalles. Ore. 97058 or Elks National Foundation.

Shirley Rose Ladiges Ellison, 65, of The Dalles, died
of cancer on Nov. 19, 2000.
She was born July 30, 1935, in Goldendale. Shirley was
raised in Washington and California. She worked as a secretary at the Corps
of Engineers in North Bonneville until 1974. From 1974-1982, she worked for
the U.S. Forest Service in the Willamette Valley as a computer operator.
Shirley returned to the Corps and retired in Oct. 1989. Shirley married Darwin
Lee Ellison.
Survivors include her husband, Lee; sons, George, David,
Dan, Terry, Les; daughters, Laurry, Terra, Carolyn, Roberta, Debra and 11
grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, Nov. 25 at
the Glenwood Cemetery at 2 p.m. Disposition is by cremation. Arrangements
are under the care of Spencer, Libby & Powell of The Dalles. The family
suggests remembrances to Hospice of the Gorge.

Former Carson resident Shirley Rose Ellison died at home
Sunday, Nov.19, 2000. She was 65.
Mrs. Ellison was born July 30, 1935, in Goldendale,
Wash.
She worked in government services for the U.S. Army Corps
of Engineers at Bonneville Dam. She lived in Carson from 1968 to 1974 before
moving to The Dalles in 1981.
Mrs. Ellison was a member of the Lady Elks Emblem Club
and enjoyed flowers and traveling in her recreational vehicle.
Survivors include her husband of 26 years, Darwin L.,
at home; five daughters, Terra D. Talon of Boise, Idaho, Laurry D. Kelly
of Toledo, Wash., and Carolyn Becker, Roberta Burnhardt and Debra Anne Jarrell,
all of Vancouver; five sons, George H. Gale and Danny R. Kelly, both of Grand
Ronde, Ore., Carl D. of The Dalles and Terry L. Ellison and Leslie S. Ellison,
both of Carson; and 11 grandchildren.
A burial service will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday at Glenwood
Cemetery in Glenwood, Wash., followed by a memorial service at Glenwood School.

Her maiden name was Ladiges. She was a secretary for the U.S. Army Corps
of Engineers in North Bonneville, Wash., from 1974 to 1982, then was a computer
operator for the U.S. Forest Service, living in Sweet Home. She moved to
The Dalles and returned to the Corps of Engineers before retiring in 1989.
In the early 1970s, she married Darwin Lee Ellison.
Survivors include her husband; sons, George Kelly, Dan
Kelly and David Kelly; daughters, Terra Talon and Laurry; stepsons, Terry
and Les; stepdaughters, Carolyn Becker, Roberta Bernhardt and Debra Jarrell;
and 11 grandchildren.
The family suggests remembrances to Hospice of the Gorge.
