SOPHIE WELLEBROCK

     Sophie S. Wellenbrock, a lifelong Glenwood resident, died Oct. 18 at Klickitat Valley Hospital in Goldendale at the age of 88.
     She was born Jan. 5, 1895 in Glenwood, to Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Kuhnhausen. She attended school in Glenwood through the eighth grade and then went to Pullman for a year and a half before retiring to Glenwood. She married George Wellenbrock Sept. 24, 1916.
     The homemaker was a member of the Glenwood Camas Prairie Grange and the Glenwood Pioneer Association.
     She is survived by her children, Harold Wellenbrock and Lela Ward, both of Glenwood, Sadie Simpson, San Leandro, Calif., and Florence Orr, Brookings, Ore.; one brother, Osmar Kuhnhausen, Glenwood; one sister, Wallie Pierce, Glenwood; 15 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, George, and two sons, Arnold and Chester.
     Funeral services for Mrs. Wellenbrock were held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Pioneer Memorial Church in Glenwood, with Rev. Julian Payne officiating. Interment was in Mt. Adams Cemetery, Glenwood.
