T. TOBIN, PIONEER PASSES; SERVICES SATURDAY, MAY 26
Tom Tobin, 65-year-old pioneer resident of this valley,
passed away at the Klickitat Valley Hospital Tuesday evening, May 22, following
an extended illness.
Rosary will be said by the Rev. Father Skehan at the
Catholic Church Friday evening, May 25 at 7:30 p.m. Services will be conducted
by Father Skehan at the church Saturday morning, May 26 at 10:00 o'clock.
Interment will be made in the Catholic Cemetery.
Tobin was born in Centerville on November 15, 1885, the
son of John and Henrietta Tobin. In 1905 he was married to Betsy M. Young.
Following their marriage they engaged in farming in the No. Six area, where
they lived until their death. Mrs. Tobin passed away in 1945.
Tobin is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Amy D. Hayes,
of Wishram,; Mrs. Clara H. Maurer of Goldendale; Mrs. Bertha M. Rayburn of
Vancouver; two sons, Leonard W. of the Mabton and Clarence J. of Goldendale;
15 grandchildren and one great grand-child.
During his early life Tobin was one of the areas outstanding
ball players and will be remembered by old-time baseball fans for his pitching
ability .
