THOS. LANTRY COMMITS SUICIDE AT LYLE
A hurried trip to Lyle was made last night by Coroner
Merle W. Chapman, who had been informed of the hanging of Thos. Lantry of
that place. Accompanied by A.C. Chapman, the coroner made the trip by auto,
and found the body suspended in the woodshed on the Lantry place, a short
distance from Lyle. Life had departed many hours.
Deceased was about 71 years of age; had lived in that
community a long time, and was a respected citizen. His wife has been in
the hospital for the past six weeks, and he has worried considerably, making
him despondent, which is attributed as a cause for the rash deed.
He left the boys in Lyle in the morning and said that
he was going to the ranch. His body was discovered by neighbors about eight
o'clock in the evening, he having probably committed suicide in the morning.
Deceased leaves two sons and a daughter. Aside from the
reason mentioned above, nothing that would indicate a reason for the deed,
was learned.
