T. PORTNER KILLED IN 1 CAR CRASH

Terry L. Portner, 20, Rt. 4, Box 5, White Salmon, driving a 1966 Triumph Spitfire 2 door convertible, was killed instantly in a one car crash on Highway 141 Sunday, Sept. 29, 3.2 miles north of White Salmon. The accident occurred at 5:10 p.m.
The Washington State Patrol stated that the vehicle was southbound on State Route 141. The driver apparently lost control of the vehicle, crossed both lanes of travel and the driver over-corrected, causing the vehicle to roll over, crushing the driver between the vehicle and the roadway surface.
The vehicle came to rest in the northbound lane facing west. The passenger in the car, Donald L. Sisson, 16, P.O. Box 663, Bingen, could not remember if he was thrown from the vehicle. Young says Sisson suffered bruises and abrasions, was treated at the scene by Skyline Ambulance.
The Washington State Patrol was assisted by a Klickitat County Deputy Floyd A. McCluskey and Mike McCluskey of the Ilwaco Washington Police Department. There was $800 damage to the convertible.
The body was removed from the scene by Skyline Ambulance to Gardner's Funeral Home in White Salmon.
