T.W.N. QUIN, OF HUNTERS HILL, PASSES AWAY
T.W.N. Quin, who died October 27 at his orchard home
on Trout Lake road, was the last of his branch of the family remembered for
generations of loyal service to the British army. His great-uncle was a general
under Wellington at the Battle of Waterloo. Commitment rites were read Monday
in Chist-Zada cemetery, Underwood Heights, by Rev. John Pickells of the Episcopal
church, of Hood River.
Mr. Quin was born in Clonnel, Ireland, in 1872. His widow,
Gwenllian, who survives, and who, prior to her marriage with Mr. Quin 11
years ago, was the widow of Mordecai Jones, has been a resident of White
Salmon valley for many years.

Last Surviving Member of Noted Irish Family Dies at Husum
A number
of local people were at Underwood, Wash., Sunday to attend funeral services for
Noel Quinn, 58, whose death occurred at Houston, Wash., Friday morning. Rev.
John Pickells, local Episcopal pastor officiated. Mr. Quinn who died Friday,
was the last surviving member of a noted Irish family, who came to America as
soon after the world war, marrying the widow of the late Mordecai Jones, titled
Irishman, who survives him.
Mordecai Jones came to America about 40 years ago and
purchased a large tract of land in the Husum country, having been attracted by
the availability of game. He erected a large hunting lodge and each hunting
season was accustomed to entertain notables from here and abroad.
Mr. Quinn, who gained his given name for having been
born on Christmas day, is survived by three stepsons, Guy and Felix Jones of
Husum and Ion Jones of England.
