URSEL O. BAKER
Ursel O. Baker, one of the first volunteer emergency
medical technicians for Skyline Hospital's ambulance service, died Thursday,
March 6, in White Salmon, at the age of 71.
He was born to Orville and Dora (Lyons) Baker in Selah,
Wash., on Dec. 31, 1914.
During World War II, Mr. Baker worked in shipyards. He
later worked 11 years as a salesman for a Mansfield's Hardware and Furniture
store in Bingen until poor health forced him to retire. Music played an important
part in his life, and he performed in various groups teen dances.
Mr. Baker is survived by his wife Doris, White Salmon;
son Stephen of Chicago, Ill.; daughters Beverly Emmons of Kirkland, Wash.,
and Lorraine Bradshaw of Bingen; brothers Chalmer Lyons, Arizona, and Bueford
Lyons of Spokane; sisters Esther Rowe, also Spokane; and two grand daughters.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 8, in the
Gardner Funeral Home of White Salmon, with Mr. Jim Bradshaw officiating.
A private burial followed. Arrangements were made by Gardner Funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be given to the in Skyline
Ambulance fund.
