VELDA M. MEYER

     Velda Mae Meyer, 82, of Kennewick, died Dec. 11 at Chaplaincy at the Hospice.
     She was born in Crescent, Okla., and lived in the Tri-Cities for 21/2 years. She was the retired owner of Trout Lake Grocery and a homemaker.
     Hillcrest Memorial Center, Kennewick, is in charge of arrangements.

VELDA MEYER

     Velda Meyer, 82, Trout Lake, died on Dec. 11, 2006, in Kennewick. She was born in Crescent, Okla., on July 14, 1924. The family moved to Harrah, where she graduated from high school. She married Gilbert Meyer, from Moxee. They were a team for the next 49 years.
     In 1959, they moved to Richland, where he worked in the Hanford area know as "stores" while she worked at the Hanford Inn. In 1966 they moved to Trout Lake and bought the Trout Lake Grocery. After 22 years of tending the store they retired and for the next 10 years became "Snow Birds" traveling south until they settled in Mesa, Ariz.
     Mrs. Meyer has been living in the Tri-Cities for the past two years with family and at Callaway Gardens. She will always be remembered by the wonderful pies she'd create, her enthusiasm to pick huckleberries and her ability to always beat us at cribbage and dominoes.
     Mrs. Meyer was preceded in death by her husband, parents and six brothers and sisters.
     Survivors include sister Wanda Osborn of Richland; daughter, Karen Neal, Kennewick; sons Greg and David Meyer of Trout Lake; eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
     A celebration of her life will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Center in Kennewick on Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2006, at 11 a.m.
     A graveside service will be held in Trout Lake, at the Trout Lake Cemetery on Friday, Dec. 22, 2006, at 11 a.m.
