JIMMIE SPINO JR.

     Jimmy Spino Jr., a resident of the Murdock area, died Sunday, Dec. 15, at his home, at the age of 24.
     He was born Dec. 14, 1961 to Jimmy and Delores Spino in Toppenish, Wash. He attended schools in Lyle and was a graduate of the Kicking Horse Job Corps in Montana.
     Mr. Spino enjoyed Indian crafts, and was a member of the Warm Springs Tribe.
     He is survived by his parents, Lyle; brothers Wesley in Wyoming and Jesse of The Dalles; sisters Andria of Murdock, Mary of Warm Springs, Ore., Joyce, Ronette, Eunice, Elsie and Juretta, all of Lyle; and his grandmother, Velma Frank of Warm Springs.
     Dressing services were held Dec. 18 in the chapel of Knosher-Erdman Funeral Home, Goldendale. Washat Indian services were held at Rockland, with Louis Charles officiating. Interment was in the Lyle Indian Cemetery.

VIOLET SHUM

Violet Elaine Shum, a 69-year-old resident of White Salmon, died Oct. 28,1986, in Hood River.

She was born July 17,1917, in Cherokee, Iowa., to. Louise and Charles Portner. She was raised in South Dakota. She married Edward "Howard" Shum in South Dakota in 1936 and moved that same year to Hood River. They came to Bingen in 1942 and lived in the same house until it burned last year. They moved to White Salmon after that. She worked for Diamond Fruit Cannery for 24 years, retiring in 1981. She was a member of the Teamsters and Eagles.

She is survived by her husband, Edward, White Salmon; children, Darwin H. Shum, Carson, Joyce L. Luebke, Yakima, and Bonnie J. Havens, Portland; a brother, Lloyd Portner, White Salmon; sisters; Adele Mansfield, White Salmon, Lorraine Robinson and Betty Kessinger, both of Klickitat, Rosie Schmidt, Roseburg, Ore., Lily Bringer, Rapid City, S.D., and Fonda Engle, Hood River; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Services will be held Oct. 31, 1986, at 2 p.m. at Gardner Funeral Home. Interment will be in the White Salmon Cemetery.
