VIRGINIA DAPKUS
Virginia Grace Dapkus, a Stevenson resident sine 1943,
died March 17 in Portland at the age of 65.
She was born June 23, 1913, in Biggs, Calif., to Mr.
and Mrs. Will Markgraf. She was a member of the Stevenson Church of the Nazarene
and worked as a homemaker.
Mrs. Dapkus is survived by her husband, August Dapkus,
Stevenson; one son, David Dapkus, Anchorage, Alaska; two brothers, William
Markgraf, Madras, Ore., and Albert Markgraf, Wenatchee; three sisters, Edith
Warner, BZ Corners, Ruth Akerill, Stevenson, and Elizabeth Guthrie, Vancouver;
and two grandchildren.
Rev. Don Kinyon and Rev. Charles Molsee conducted funeral
services for Mrs. Dapkus Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Stevenson Church of the
Nazarene. Burial was in the Mt. Adams Cemetery at Glenwood.

RITES READ FOR VIRGINIA DAPKUS
Virginia Grace Dapkus, who has resided here since 1943,
died March 17, at the age of 65.
Mrs. Dapkus had been in ill health for several years.
She was born June 23, 1913, in Biggs, California, the
daughter of Will and Edna Markgraf. As a young girl she moved with her parents
to their farm at Glenwood, Washington, where she grew up.
She and August Dapkus were married December 26, 1936,
in Stevenson and spent the first few years of their married life at Libby,
Montana, returning to this area in 1943. They resided for a time in North
Bonneville before moving to Stevenson.
She was a member of the Stevenson Church of the Nazarene.
Besides her husband, August, at home, she is survived
a son, David Dapkus. There are two grandchildren.
She is also survived by two brothers, William Markgraf
of Madras, Oregon, and Albert Markgraf of Wenatchee; and three sisters, Edith
Warner of BZ Corners, Ruth Akerill of Stevenson, and Elizabeth Guthrie of
Vancouver.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Stevenson Church
of the Nazarene with the Rev. Don Kinyon and the Rev. Charles Molsee officiating.
Interment followed at the Mt. Adams Cemetery in Glenwood.
Gardner's Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
