VIOLA I. PORTNER DIES AT BAY CITY ON FEBRUARY 23

     Viola Irene Portner was born to John and Ann Duffy at Louisville, Minnesota on May 18, 1916. She was married to Elbert Portner in Chamberlain, South Dakota. She had lived in this area since 1941 and had moved with her family to Bay City, Oregon about a year ago.
     She passed away at Bay City, Oregon February 23, 1967 at the age of 50 years.
     Surviving her is her husband, Albert Portner Bay City, Oregon; Sons: Marshall and Randy of Bay City; Ralph of Troutdale, Oregon; Daughters: Mrs. Eugene Murphy of Seattle; Mrs. Norman Hall of Hood River, Oregon; Carol Jean Portner of Bay City, Oregon. Four grandchildren: Brother: Marshall Duffy of North Manchester, Ind.; Sister: Mrs. Edna Larson of St. James, Minn.
     Three brothers preceded her in death. Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 28 at 2:00 p.m. at Gardner's Chapel in White Salmon Cemetery. The Rev. Mr. William H. Collier of Trout Lake officiated.

MRS. PORTNER DIES OF HEART ATTACK

     Mrs. Albert Portner suffered a fatal heart attack at her home on Thursday, Feb. 23. The funeral was held Tuesday, Feb. 28 at White Salmon, Wash.
     The Portner's six children were all here on Friday and Saturday to be with their father. They included three daughters, Carol, a senior at Central Washington Teachers' College at Ellensburg; Mrs. Betty Murphy of Seattle, and Mrs. Norman Hall of Hood River; the Portner's son from Troutlake, Wash., and two other sons living at home, "Pug" and Randy.
     Less than a year ago the Portners had moved to Bay City, purchasing a new home on 7th St. between Maine and Ocean Ave., which Clarence Hall, contractor, had just completed. Mr. Portner is a mill-wright at Tillamook Veneer plywood plant.
     The community offers sincere sympathy to the bereaved family.

VIOLA PORTNER FUNERAL TUES.

     Viola Irene Portner died February 23 at Bay City, Oregon. Funeral services were held Tuesday February 28 at 2 p.m. at Gardner's Chapel in White Salmon with the Rev. William H. Collier of Trout Lake officiating. Burial was in White Salmon Cemetery.
     Casket bearers were B.J. Kessinger, Lloyd Portner, Dick Mansfield, Pete Portner, Carl Engel and Edward Holley and one honorary bearer J. Robbins.
     Viola Irene Duffy was born May 18, 1916 and Louisville, Minn. to John and Ann Duffy. She married Albert Portner in Chamberlain, South Dakota. She lived in the White Salmon area from 1941 until about a year ago when the family moved to Bay City, Ore.
     Survivors are her husband, Albert; sons Marshal and Randy of Bay City and Ralph of Troutdale, Ore.; daughters, Mrs. Eugene Murphy of Seattle, Mrs. Norman Hall of Hood River and Carol Jean Portner of Bay City; four grandchildren; a brother, Marshall Duffy of North Manchester, Ind.; and a sister, Mrs. Edna Larson of St. James, Minn.
