VERA MCCOY
Vera McCoy, a resident of the White Salmon area since
1924, died at Parkhurst House in Hood River on March 23, 1997 at the age
of 89.
Mrs. McCoy was born in Lyle on March 24, 1917, to Bessie
S. (Conklin) and Robert H. Chamberlain. When she was a young girl, her family
moved to Baker, Ore. The family returned to the White Salmon area when Mrs.
McCoy was six.
She married Joseph Hensen McCoy in Goldendale on May
19, 1928. He died in 1972. Mrs. McCoy was very active in the Women's Club,
Senior Citizens of White Salmon and the Rebekah Lodge. She was a member of
the Methodist Church and worked for the PTA and the Red Cross for many years.
She had a large family and loved them all dearly.
Mrs. McCoy is survived by her son Bob D. McCoy and his
wife Wilma J., White Salmon; grandsons Ross McCoy, White Salmon, Dan McCoy
and his wife Myrna, and Joe McCoy and his wife Julie, all of Ocean Shores;
seven great-grandchildren and one great, great-grandchild.
At Mrs. McCoy's request, a private service for the family
was held March 26, 1997, at the White Salmon Cemetery.
Arrangements were handled by Gardner Funeral Home.
