VESTA RATER
Vesta Chamberlain was born September 26, 1913 at Glenwood,
Washington. She and her family moved to Unity, Oregon, when she was 2 years
old. In 1924 the family moved to Lyle. She attended school at Lyle and
Goldendale, graduating from high school at Lyle. She attended college at
Whitman, and on September 27, 1937 she and Rudolph Rater, of Portland, were
married.
She accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early
age and was a regular attendant at the Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband, two young sons, Tonnie
aged 8 and Donnie 6; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robt. Chamberlain and sister,
Mrs. Joe McCoy, of White Salmon; three brothers, Vernon of Trout Lake; Virgil
of Fargo, North Dakota and Gerald, of White Salmon.

On September 27, 1937 she was married to Rudolph Rater of Portland. They spent one year in White Salmon, two years in Medford and six years in Portland. She accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age and was a regular attendant at the Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband, two sons, Tommie and Donnie; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robt. Chamberlain; a sister, Mrs. Joe McCoy of White Salmon, three brothers, Vernon of Soap Lake, Wn., Virgil of Fargo, North Dakota and Gerald, of White Salmon.
