VERLON P. DUTSON
Vernon Porter Dutson, a longtime Klickitat resident,
died suddenly March 5, at his home in Lyle, at the age of 62.
Mr. Dutson was born Aug. 22, 1925, in Logan, Utah, to
Alverta L. Porter and Richard Glenn Dutson. He moved to Idaho at the age
of one. He entered the Navy soon after graduation, then went back to Idaho
for a short time before moving to Klickitat in 1948. He moved to Lyle in
1978 and has lived there ever since. He worked for the mill in Klickitat
for almost 40 years, retiring in August of last year. He was a member of
the LDS Church and Lumber and Sawmill Workers Union 2805. He enjoyed woodworking,
carpentry, fishing and travelling.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby, Lyle; daughter, Verna
Lee Bentley, Vancouver; brothers, Thurlo Glenn Dutson, Riverside, Calif.,
and Ronald Dwight Dutson, Carson; sister, Ileta Lewis, Lander, Wyo.; and
one grandson, David Bentley, Olympia.
Services for Mr. Dutson were held March 9 at 2 p.m. at
the LDS Church in White Salmon, with Bishop Dwayne Nielson officiating. Interment
was in the Lyle-Balch Cemetery.
