VERNA R. HEYL
Long-time White Salmon resident Verna R. Heyl died March
17 in White Salmon. Mrs. Heyl was 85 years old.
She was born June 10, 1904 in Zillah to Mabel (Harper)
and Frank Hill and raised in that community. She moved to the White Salmon
area in 1935. She married Thomas E. Heyl.
Mrs. Heyl was a telephone operator for Oregon-Washington
Telephone Co. for 15 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, who died in
1971.
Mrs. Heyl is survived by son Frank Heyl of Lake Oswego,
Ore.; sisters June Hunsaker of White Salmon, Dorothy Wilson of Hood River
and Hazel Woodall of Zillah; brother Glenn Hill of Woodinville, Wash.; two
grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Wednesday, March 21, at
White Salmon Cemetery with Rev. Arthur Dickie of-ficiating. Contributions
in Mrs. Heyl's name may be donated to a charity of choice.
