VERNON S. WINTERSTEIN
Vernon S. Winterstein was born in Klickitat county, December
13, 1912, and passed away at Hood River, Oregon, May 14, 1956.
He graduated from the Centerville high school and resided
in the Horseshoe Bend area until 1949. He spent two years in California and
since that time was employed by Earl and Allen Moore of Hood River.
Survivors are his mother, Mrs. Ralph Winterstein and
a brother, Jackson of Goldendale, three uncles, two aunts and several cousins.
Funeral services were held Monday from the Phillips Funeral
Home with the Rev. Glenn Garner officiating, followed by interment in the
Spring Creek Cemetery.

V.S. WINTERSTEIN SERVICES MONDAY
Vernon S. Winterstein, resident of this area until 1949,
died Monday, May 14 at Hood River, Oregon. According to a report from Hood
River County Sheriff Rupert Gilmouthe, Winterstein was a victim of suicide
by hanging.
Funeral services were held Monday at the Phillips Funeral
Home ,with the Rev. P. Glenn Garner officiating, and interment followed
in the Spring Creek Cemetery.
Survivor's include Vernon's mother, Mrs. Ralph Winterstein,
and a brother Jackson, both of Goldendale; three uncles, two aunts and several
cousins.
Vernon resided in the Horseshoe Bend country until 1949,
when he went to California for two years, and later settled at Hood River.
He was employed by Earl and Allen Moore.

Vernon Sydney Winterstein, 43, who had been at home at the Spring Grove motel in Hood River, died there May 14 and private funeral services were held in Goldendale, Wash. His survivors include his mother, Mrs. S.R. Winterstein, and a brother, Stephen J. Winterstein, both of Goldendale.
