Another Pioneer Gone.
The entire community was grieved to hear of the death
of W.N. Crawford, one of the best known pioneers in this part of the state,
at his home near Grand Dalles Saturday evening. Mr. Crawford was 78 years
of age and had resided in Klickitat county since 1877, where he engaged in
the farming business and now has one of the finest farms in that part of
the country. He being advanced in years and in failing health; the end was
not unexpected and many friends will regret to hear of his death. The funeral
was held from the family home Monday afternoon. A large circle of friends
were present to pay their last respect to their honored friend and neighbor.
The services were in charge of the Masonic lodge of which order he was a
prominent member.
Besides a loving wife, he leaves three children to mourn
his departure, Mrs. Frank Saxton, of Spring Creek, and J.W. and W.H. Crawford,
who also have farms in the Grand Dalles district and who have the sympathy
of all in their time of great sorrow.
Pall bearers, were Messrs. A.E. Crosby, Victor Marden,
S.E. Johnson, Fritz Smith, H.L. Wilson and M.Z. Donnell.

W.N. Crawford an honored and highly
esteemed resident died at his home in Grand Dalles Saturday evening at the
age of 78 years. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1829 and came to California
in 1852. In 1864 he was married to Miss Julia Worrell at Susanville, Calif.,
and in 1877 the Crawfords emigrated to Klickitat county, Washington, and
settled on the farm where Mr. Crawford lived up to the time of his death.
Mr. Crawford leaves a wife, a daughter, Mrs. Frank Saxton,
of Spring Creek, Klickitat county, and two sons, J.N. Crawford and W.H. Crawford
who reside near Grand Dalles.

W.N. Crawford an honored and highly esteemed resident died at his home in Grand Dalles (about 20 miles from Goldendale) on Saturday evening Sept. 21st, at the age of 78 years. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1829 and came to California in 1852. In 1864 he was married to Miss Julie Worrell at Susanville, Cal., and in 1877 the Crawfords emigrated to Klickitat county, and settled on the farm where Mr. Crawford lived up to the time of his death. Mr. Crawford leaves a wife, a daughter, Mrs. Frank Saxton, of Spring Creek, and two sons, J.N. Crawford and W.H. Crawford who reside near Grand Dalles. The funeral, which was in charge of Undertaker Sanders of this city, took place Sunday at the late home of the deceased, and was conducted under the auspices of the Masonic lodge of The Dalles of which Mr. Crawford has been an active member for many years.
