WILLIAM YOUNG JR.
William Chester Young Jr., a lifelong White Salmon resident,
died Monday in Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital following a logging accident,
at the age of 43.
Mr. Young was born Aug. 28, 1940, in White Salmon, to
Mr. and Mrs. William C. Young Sr. He graduated from Columbia High School
in 1958 and served in the U.S. Navy from 1958 to 1961. Following his stint
in the service, he returned to White Salmon were he worked in construction
and as a logger.
He was a board of trustee for Federation of Eagles 2210,
a member of Laborers Local 335 and the National Rifle Association. He was
an avid sportsman and past president of the fish and game club.
He is survived by his wife, Betty; parents, Mr. and Mrs.
William C. Young Sr., White Salmon; children, William Charles Young, White
Salmon, and Cathy, Mary and Laurie, all of Chicago, Ill.; sisters, Carolyn
Wood, Idaho, Gloria Hartman, North Bonneville, Darlene Niva, Centerville,
and Leora Osborne, Wilsonville, Ore.; and 1 grandchild.
Services for Mr. Young will be held today, (Thursday)
at 2 p.m. at Gardner Funeral Home in White Salmon, with Rev. Jean Marie Wood
officiating. Interment will be in White Salmon Cemetery.
