WILLIAM C. KLATT
William C. Klatt was born in West Germany, Dec. 17, 1861. Moved with his parents to America in 1870 locating at Chicago, Ill. Lived there five years when he moved to Schultzberg, Wis. In 1880 he moved to Liberty Township, Iowa. Was married to Emely Maria Freer, Aug. 12th, 1881. To this union was born four girls and four boys. Two girls having gone before. The children and that survive him are William L. of Troutdale, Ore., George C., Walter R., Henry M., Mrs. Harry Moore and Mrs. Arthur Brown all of Goldendale. Moved his family to Goldendale in 1903, where he has since resided, being in the Saw Mill business for the past 10 years. His wife died Nov. 21st, 1908 at Firwood, Wash. He was well and favorably known throughout the vicinity of Goldendale. Was a kind and dutiful father always ready to lend a helping hand to his fellowmen and by his death Goldendale loses a good citizen, the family a loving father. Besides his family and a host of friends and relatives he leaves to mourn his death one brother Julius L. Klatt of Merril, Iowa. The Funeral services were held at Merle W. Chapman's Undertaking Parlors Sunday, Nov. 14th at 1 o'clock. The services were conducted by Rev. W.N. Knox assisted by L.M. Flesh, Secretary of the Eagles Lodge of Stevenson of which Mr. Klatt was a member. Was laid to rest in the Spring Creek Cemetery by the side of his wife at 3:30 P.M.. Elder J.E. Adams spoke words of sympathy at the grave.
