WILLIAM C. YOUNG SR.
William C. Young Sr. of White Salmon died at Hood River
Memorial Hospital Sept. 8. He was 77.
Mr. Young was born Sept. 1, 1913, in Connell to Frances
(Inman) and Wesley Frank Young. He grew up there on a wheat ranch.
He moved to White Salmon in the 1930s, and married Dorothy
Talbert in White Salmon June 2, 1935. Mr. Young worked at Lauterbach's
Slaughterhouse and in construction be fore going to work for the Corps of
Engineers in the late 195Os. He worked on all area dams and spent six months
in Korea. He retired in 1979.
Mr. Young loved to hunt, fish and was an excellent horseman.
He had been a saddle bronc rider.
He is survived by wife Dorothy of White Salmon; children
Carolyn Wood of White Bird, Idaho, Gloria Hartman of Stevenson, Darlene Dick
of Tigard, Ore., and Leora Osborne of Aloha, Ore.; brother Frank Young of
California; 15 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded
in death by a son, William C. Young Jr.
Funeral service was held Wednesday, Sept.12, at Gardner
Funeral Home, presided by Rev. Larson. Committal followed at White Salmon
Cemetery. Memorials in Mr. Young's name may be given to the Kidney Foundation.
