GUIER
Walter D. Guier, long-time resident of Goldendale, passed
away Monday, Aug. 31 at his home. He was born on Jan. 24, 1917 in Caney,
Kansas to Walter E. and Pearl Lillie Guier.
He attended schools in Kansas and graduated from Peru
High School. Walt married Elva Boyles on April 20, 1941 in Vancouver.
Walt owned and operated a logging business before turning
his hand to iron work. He worked for several years as a superintendent at
the Oregon ship yards and later worked as an iron worker on many of the dams
on the Columbia and Snake rivers. The family moved to Goldendale in 1955.
Walt had many friends in the Goldendale area and had
many interest he enjoyed, among which was working with cattle and horses.
Survivors include his wife: three daughters and one son,
Donald of Omaha, Kathy Bradford of Washougal, Patricia Wilkes of White Salmon,
and Joyce Mason of The Dalles; three sisters, Bernice Abernathy of Washougal,
Blanche Guier of McDermitt, Nev., and Mildred Norris of Ponca City, Okla.;
two brothers, Bill of McDermitt, Nev., and Kenneth of Ponca City Okla.; nine
grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Sept. 4 at the Centerville
Cemetery with Pastors Wayne Byers and Ron Mowe officiating. Arrangements
were under the care of the Knosher-Erdman Funeral Home.
