     DEATH OF W.D. MESECHER. - W.D. Mesecher died at his home in Cedar Valley, on January 8, 1904. He was born in West Virginia, February 4, 1835. He moved to Ohio, and from Ohio to Illinois; from Illinois to Kansas. There he was married to Miss Margaret Martin of Crawford county, on June 13, 1861. Moved from Kansas to Laharp, Illinois, August 18, 1861; moved to Emporia, Kansas, in 1866; from Emporia to Cato, Kansas, March 10, 1868; from Cato to Gerard, Kansas, Dec. 15, 1868; from Gerard to Eureka Springs, Arkansas, Dec. 20, 1879; from Eureka Springs to Gerard, Kansas, Sept. 4, 1880; and from Gerard to Goldendale Oct. 9, 1883. He has been a resident of Klickitat county ever since. He was the first settler in Cedar Valley, where he had lived for several years. He was a soldier in the union army during the civil war. He leaves a beloved wife and three sons to mourn his absence, -- Frank Mesecher of Spring Creek, and Charles and Harty Mesecher of Cedar Valley. He was a consistent Christian and a member of the Missionary Baptist Church; also a deacon in the church. He had not been well for a year, but was not confined to his bed. The funeral sermon was preached at his home in Cedar Valley by Elder J.E. Adams, Jan. 10, 1904, after which his remains were laid to rest in the Cedar Valley Cemetery. The bereaved family have the heartfelt sympathy of many friends in their sad affliction. The bereaved family further wish to extend their sincere thanks to the friends for their kindness during the sickness and death of Mr. Mesecher.
