WILLIAM E. HOCTOR
William Emmett Hoctor died Sept. 17 at Klickitat Valley
Hospital in Goldendale at the age of 76.
He was born near Centerville Oct. 12, 1895, the eldest
of 10 children of Henrietta Jane and Micheal Martinus Hoctor.
His family moved to the No. 12 District where he lived
until his marriage to Zona McDowell Nov. 1919. They moved to the farm in
the No. 6 District where they lived for nearly 58 years.
He is survived by his wife, sons Charles and Emmett;
daughters Ellen Willis and Dorothy Dressel, all of Goldendale; brother John,
Goldendale, brother Bob and sister Grace Fuchs, both of Yakima; 18 grandchildren
and 13 great grandchildren.
He was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church and belonged
to Goldendale Grange for 49 years and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He was chosen Pioneer Cattleman of 1976 for Klickitat County.
Funeral mass was held today (Wednesday) at Holy Trinity
Catholic Church with Father John Marasciulo as celebrant.
Honorary pallbearers were Tom Willis, Terry Willis, Paul
Hoctor and Dennis Hoctor. Active pallbearers were Ray Willis, Bill Dressel,
John F. Hoctor, Charlie Hoctor, Daryl Willis and Kenneth Hoctor. Interment
was in Holy Trinity Cemetery.
