WM. MARKGRAF SERVICES HELD

     Funeral services were held at the Stevenson Methodist church Thursday morning of this week for William Markgraf, a resident of Stevenson the past 15 years. The Rev. Woodrow Morgan of the Stevenson Nazarene church officiated. The same afternoon Rev. William Franklin of the Carson Nazarene church officiated at services held in the Glenwood church.       Mr. Markgraf was born June 26, 1884, at Stillwater, Minnesota, the son of Amelia and Albert Markgraf. Before coming to Stevenson he farmed for many years in the Glenwood Valley. He was a member of the Stevenson Grange.
     He is survived by his wife, Edna, of Stevenson; two sons, Albert of Silver Lake, Ore., and William of Madras, Ore.; four daughters, Virginia Dapkus and Elizabeth Guthrie of Stevenson, Edith Warner of Carson and Ruth Akerill of Glenwood; two brothers, Charles of Medical Lake, Wash., and Fred of Redding, Calif.; one sister, Rose Brown of Oakland, Calif.; 17 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
     Interment will be in the family plot of the Mt. Adams cemetery in Glenwood.

MARKGRAF SERVICE HELD IN TWO TOWNS

     Will F. Markgraf was born in Stillwater, Minnesota June 26, 1884 and departed this life September 29, 1957 in a hospital in Vancouver.
     He moved with his parents to Camas Prairie at the age of seven where he lived the most of his life.
     He was united in marriage to Miss Edna Hylton on April 6, 1909 at the home of their sister and brother, Mr. and Mrs. Gus Markgraf. To this union were born nine children; three preceding him in death Carl in 1919; Pete in 1938; Lydia Crockard in 1941 and one grand-daughter, Lavonne in 1948. In 1943 he sold the home place in Glenwood and moved to Stevenson where he lived until his death.
     He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Edna, two sons and daughters-in-laws, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Markgraf of Silver Lake, Oregon and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Markgraf of Madras, Oregon. Four daughters and sons-in-law; Mr. and Mrs. August Dapkus of Stevenson, Wash., Mr. and Mrs. Merle Akerill of Glenwood, Wash., Mr. and Mrs. Al Warner of Carson, Wash. and Mr. and Mrs. Vance Guthrie of Stevenson, Wash.
     Eighteen grandchildren and Three great grandchildren. Two brothers; Fred of Redding, Calif. and Charles of White Salmon. One sister, Rose Brown of Oakland, Calif. and a host of relatives and friends.
     Funeral services will be held at the Methodist Church in Stevenson Thursday October 3 at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Woodrow Morgan of the Stevenson Nazarene church officiating. At 2 p.m. in the Glenwood Church services will be held by the Rev. William Franklin. Interment will be in the Glenwood Cemetery.

WILLIAM MARKGRAF RITES ON THURSDAY

     Funeral services for William Markgraf, a former resident of the Glenwood Valley, will be held Thursday, Oct. 3. For the past 15 years Mr. Markgraf has made his home in Stevenson. He passed away at the hospital in Vancouver Sept. 29 at the age of 83 years. He was born in Stillwell, Minn., June 26, 1884, the son of Amelia and Albert Markgraf.
     He is survived by his wife, Edna of Stevenson; two sons, Albert of Silver Lake, Ore. and William of Madras, Ore., four daughters, Virginia Dapkus and Elizabeth Gutherie of Stevenson, Ruth Akerill of Glenwood, and Edith Warner of Carson; 17 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; two brothers, Charles Markgraf of Medical Lake and Fred Markgraf of Redding, Calif., one sister, Rose Brown of Oakland, Calif.
     Funeral services will be held at the Stevenson Methodist Church at 10 a.m. Oct. 3 and at the Glenwood Church at 2 p.m. Interment will be at Mt. Adams Cemetery in Glenwood.
