WM. F. SPLAWN DIES; HOOD RIVER
William Francis Splawn passed away at the Hood River Memorial Hospital in Hood River, Oregon on May 30th. He was born July 19, 1888 at Lyle, Washington to Marion and Sarah Splawn. He attended school at Lyle and graduated from the Lyle School there. He worked for J. Neil Lumber Company for ten years. He continued working in this area as a logger and timber faller for most of his life. On July 2, 1930 he was married to Clarice Vivian Castle at The Dalles, Oregon. In 1935 they moved to Seaside, Oregon so he could work for Crown Zeller Corporation until his retirement at the age of 65. After his retirement they moved back to Lyle for a couple of years. When Clarice became ill they returned to Seaside for a time. She passed away in 1964 and he continued to live in Seaside for three years. After this time he spent his time between Seaside and White Salmon. He is survived by his brother, John Splawn of White Salmon; a niece, Dorothy (Mrs. Leo L.) Williams of White Salmon; an adopted son, Orville Splawn of Bellingham, Washington and a step-daughter, Peggy O'Brien of Everett, Washington. Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 2nd, at Gardner's Funeral Home in White Salmon at 2:00 p.m. with Mr. Upton Fuller of the Assembly of God Church of Bingen, Washington officiating. Interment was in the Balch Cemetery at Lyle, Washington.
