WILLIAM WILSON
The entire community was saddened last Wednesday evening,
March 4, when the news was flashed over the wires that "Billy had passed
away."
Wm. Wilson was born in the state of Iowa forty nine years
ago and came west with his parents and settled at Camas Valley, not far from
Roseburg, Oregon.
When a young man he came to Klickitat County. Here he
met and married Miss Mary Morris. To this union two children were born, the
oldest dying in infancy.
The wife and once son aged 19 years are left to mourn
his loss. He also leaves an aged father, several brothers and sisters, besides
a host of friends to mourn his departure.
He was a pleasant, sociable, honest, upright man, who
always made friends, an obliging neighbor, a kind husband and father had
was loved and respected by all who knew him.
He had not an enemy in the world, and we never heard
a word told against him.
The funeral services were held at the house Friday, March
6, the Rev. Chas. Bennett officiating. A large crowd of friends and neighbors,
there being 8 teams and about a score of horsebacks accompanying him to his
last resting place in the Spring Creek cemetery.
Honest upright neighbor; kind true friend, farewell!
Rest in peace! We shall miss you sadly here but hope to meet again where
partings are no more.
We shall sleep, but not forever,
Here will be a glorious dawn;
We shall meet to part, no, never,
On the resurrection morn.
When we hear the music ringing,
In that bright celestial dome,
When sweet angel voices singing,
Gladly bid us welcome home.
Harp-strings touched by Angel fingers,
Murmur in our rapturous ears,
Evermore their sweet song lingers,
" We shall know each other there."
