WILLIAM J. MULLIGAN, PIONEER, PASSES

     William J. Mulligan, one of the oldest pioneers of Klickitat county, died at San Diego, California, July 17th, 1921. The remains were brought to this city, the funeral taking place from the Holy Family Catholic church, on Saturday, July 23rd. Interment was in the Catholic cemetery. The attendance of friends and neighbors was very large.
     William J. Mulligan was born in Wexford county, Ireland, May 22, 1842. He came to the United States when but a boy, and spent a number of years in the city of New York, and where he was married to Anna Doyle, August 15, 1873.
     In 1877, he came to California, and nine years later moved to Klickitat county, where he engaged in farming and stock raising, until May, 1918, when he retired, settling at San Diego. Here he lived until his death.
     Fourteen children were born to this union, eight boys and six girls, ten of whom are still living, as follows:
     Myles M. Mulligan, of Hardman, Oregon.
     John N. Mulligan, Centerville.
     Theodore F. Mulligan, San Diego.
     Ed. A. Mulligan, of Kansas City, Mo.
     Martin H. Mulligan, of Oregon City.
     Laughlin D. Mulligan, of Evergreen, Colorado.
     Mary S. Mulligan, of Portland.
     Anna, Catherine, and Julia, of San Diego.
     William J. Mulligan was a good neighbor, had an extensive circle of acquaintances, and his death is mourned by all who knew him.

GRIM REAPER CALLS WELL KNOWN MEN

William Mulligan

     William Mulligan was born in Wexford county, Ireland on May 22nd, 1842, and died at San Diego, California, July 17, 1921. He came to the United States when but a boy and spent a number of years in New York City, at which place he was married to Anna Doyle, on August 15, 1873.
     In 1877 he came west to California with the family lived for nine years, when they moved to Klickitat county. He engaged in farming and stock raising until May 1918, when he retired, moving to San Diego, California, where he lived until his death.
     Fourteen children were born to this union, eight boys and six girls, ten of which are still living: Myles N. Mulligan, Hardman, Ore.; John M. Mulligan, Centerville; Thomas F., San Diego; Edward A., Kansas City; Martin H., Oregon City; Laughlin D., Evergreen, Col.; Mary T., Portland; Anna, Catherine and Julia, San Diego, California. He is also survived by his wife.
     The funeral services, which were held in this city last Saturday, were attended by a great many friends of the decedent of Goldendale and vicinity. A long string of cars filled with friends followed the remains to the last resting place, in respect for this kindly man who was among the pioneers of this valley, and whose acquaintance extended beyond the county boundaries. A number of relatives from outside of town were present at the funeral.
