WILLIAM NIMELA
William Niemela was born at Calumet, Michigan, on February
5, 1874 and came to Klickitat County with his parents, John A. and Bertha
Niemela in 1878 where his parents homestead in the Warwick area.
He passed away at Wenatchee, Wash. on February 26, 1964
at the age of 90 years, 21 days.
He was married to Ida Elmina Walman on January 4, 1898.
To this union seven children were born, five of whom survive.
Survivors include his wife, Ida Niemela, his sons, Lores
W. of Wenatchee, Frank A. of Goldendale, LeLand T. of Longview, Harvey V.
of Centerville, A. Weston of Salem, Ore.; one sister, Mrs. Frank Hiukka of
Centerville; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Mr. Niemela had extensive land holdings in the Centerville
area and engaged in farming for many years.
They moved to Goldendale in the summer of 1962. He was
a member of the Centerville Church of Christ and was a life member of the
Centerville Grange.
Funeral services were held at the Knosher Funeral Home
and interment was in the Centerville Cemetery, February, 28.

William Niemela, 90, Goldendale, died in a Wenatchee
nursing home Wednesday morning following an extended illness.
Born in Calumet, Mich., Feb. 5, 1874, he moved with his
parents to a homestead west of Goldendale in 1878. He married Ida E. Walman
Jan. 4, 1898, at Centerville, and operated a wheat and cattle ranch in that
area of the rest of his working life. He came to Wenatchee one month ago
to be near his son here. He was a member of the Centerville Christian Church.
Surviving are his widow; five sons, L.W. Niemela, Wenatchee,
Frank A. Niemela, Toppenish, Leland T. Niemela, Longview, Harvey V. Niemela,
Centerville, and A. Weston Niemela, Salem, Ore.; one sister, Mrs. Emma Huika,
Centerville; three grandchildren; and 3 great-grand children.
Services will be conducted in the Knosher Funeral Home,
Goldendale, Friday. Wenatchee arrangements are by Jones and Jones Funeral
Home.
