WILLIAM McCUISTION
William John McCuistion, a Trout Lake native, died Sept.
28, 1995, at his home in White Salmon, at the age of 84.
Mr. McCuistion was born Dec. 7, 1910 to Lillian (Schmid)
and George McCuistion. He grew up in Trout Lake, marrying Alice Catherine
Bowling in 1931. For a time he worked for the forest service and was one
of the first to help with CCC. He and his brother Lawrence had a sawmill
in the 1940s, then he worked for Hollenbeck Lumber. He went to work for the
Forest Service full time in the 1950s, retiring in 1973.
He moved to White Salmon in 1987 to avoid the severe
winters. He spent a lot of time with the Klickitat County Senior Services.
He loved to hunt and fish. He tied his own flies and one of his great joys
was taking his grandchildren fishing.
He was a former member of the Trout Lake Volunteer Fire
Department and was instrumental in bringing the first fire truck to Trout
Lake in the 1950s.
Mr. McCuistion is survived by his children, Kathleen
McCuistion, White Salmon, and Douglas W. McCuistion, Underwood; half-sister
Helen Rodriguez, California; granddaughters Kim McCuistion, Carson, and Terry
Murphy, Walla Walla; one great-grandson Douglas William McCuistion, Walla
Walla.
Funeral services for Mr. McCuistion were held Tuesday,
Oct. 3, 1995, at Gardner Funeral Home in White Salmon, with Rev. Joel Hibbs
officiating. Interment was in Trout Lake Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Trout Lake Volunteer Fire
Department, Trout Lake.
Arrangements were handled by Gardner Funeral Home.
