WILLIAM PFAFF
A funeral service for 85-year-old William Martin Pfaff,
who died in The Dalles, Ore., on Feb. 19, 2003, was on Feb. 25, 2003, at
2 p.m. at Gardner Chapel in White Salmon. Interment will follow at the Lyle
Balch Cemetery in Lyle.
Mr. Pfaff was born to Phillip and Magdalena (Kosel) Pfaff
on Nov. 11, 1917, in Mounds City, S.D. In 1936, he moved to Selah.
He enlisted in the United States Army and entered active
service on Sept. 3, 1942. While serving his country, he was awarded the Asiatic
Pacific Service Medal, American Theatre Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal
and Victory Medal. On Jan. 6, 1946, Mr. Pfaff was honorably discharged from
the military.
On Aug. 28, 1946, he married Alice Swederofsky in Vancouver
and the couple moved to the Lyle/Klickitat area shortly thereafter.
Mr. Pfaff worked for J. Neils mill in Klickitat, retiring
in the early 1980s.
He loved tinkering on cars and bowling. He also enjoyed
woodworking, making picture frames and furniture.
Surviving Mr. Pfaff are his wife Alice, Lyle; daughter
Darlene Lindberg, Paradise, Calif.; son Daryl Pfaff, Eureka, Calif.; sister
Ruth Loran, Ortis Orchards; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by brothers Henry, Albert, Fred, Edwin and Theodore,
and sisters Martha and Esther.

William Martin Pfaff, 85, died in The Dalles on Feb.
19, 2003.
He was born to Phfflip and Magadelena (Kosel) Pfaff on

He moved to Selah, Wash., in 1936 and on Aug. 28, 1946
married Alice Swederofsky in Vancouver and they moved to the Lyle/Kllckitat
area shortly thereafter.
He worked for the J. Neils mill in Klickitat, retiring
in the 1980s.

Survivors include his wife, Alice, Lyle; daughter, Darlene

Loran, Otis Orchard, Wash.; eight grandchildren and five
great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Henry, Albert,
Fred, Edwin and Theodore and sister Martha and Esther.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Feb. 25, at 2
p.m. at Gardner Funeral Home in White Salmon followed by interment at the
Lyle Baich Cemetery in Lyle.
Memorials may be made to charities of the donor's choice.
