WILMA O. COATE
Wilma O. Coate of White Salmon died at home. She was
81.
Mrs. Coate was born in White Pine, Mont. July 31, 1911
to Sarah (Spires) and Charles Norton. She grew up in Montana and Spokane,
graduated from St. Luke's School of Nursing in 1933. She came to Trout Lake
in 1934, married Rodger in 1935. She helped him on the farm and then went
to work for Skyline Hospital from 1953 until retirement in 1973.
Mrs. Coate was director of nurses for 11 years at Skyline
Hospital. She attended Bethel Congregational Church. She was a bowler on
the hospital league, loved to play pinochle. She was a 50 year member of
the Trout Lake Grange. She is survived by her children, Delores Byrnes of
Salem, Bonnie Jean Coate of Olympia and Jerry N. Coate of White Salmon; 11
grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at Gardner Funeral Home in
White Salmon on Monday, followed by interment at Trout Lake Cemetery.
Contributions may be given to the Skyline Foundation
or Heart Fund.
