WILLY GRIBNER
Willy Otto Gribner, a longtime Glenwood resident, died
in Hood River, Ore., on April 9, 2001.
He was born June 10, 1908, in Germany to Gustav Herman
and Maria (Sweighoefer) Gribner. He attended school in Germany and moved
to Glenwood at the age of 21. Mr. Gribner farmed in Glenwood until his
retirement.
Mr. Gribner married Elva Gail Grubb on June 3, 1937,
in Vancouver. She preceded him in death in 1980.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and pinochle. He loved growing
things in his flower garden, especially pansies.
Mr. Gribner is survived by son Lee Gribner, Husum; daughter
Mary Simpson, Portland, Ore.: and six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, son Frank, brothers Fritz, Gus and
Ernest, and sister Maria.
A celebration of life was held on Friday, April 13, 2001,
at 1 p.m. at Gardner Chapel in White Salmon. A private burial took place
at White Salmon Cemetery.
Memorial may be made to the White Salmon Senior Center
Building Fund in care of Gardner Funeral Home, who was in charge of arrangements.
