WILLIAM P. BARTHLOW
Mr. William P. "Bill" Barthlow, 63, of Goldendale passed
away on Sunday, May 28, 1994 in Goldendale.
He was born on June 1, 1930 in Mexico, Kentucky to William
M. "Ted" and Pauline Barthlow. The family moved to Zillah in 1931 and after
graduation from high school Bill served in the U.S. Army from 1951 through
1953.
Bill and Margaret Bobst were united in married on June
27, 1955.
He attended Central Washington College and Education
and after graduation began teaching and coaching in Granite Falls. The family
moved to Goldendale in 1967 where Bill taught the Social Sciences and was
a three sport coach at Goldendale High School. He also served as activities
director for 10 years before retiring in 1983.
Bill was an active member of the Lions Club for over
30 years and was a board member of the Yakima Valley Interscholastic Activities
Association. He also served as a school board member in the Goldendale School
District for eight years.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, sports, collecting baseball
cards, working with students, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Marge; one daughter, Teresa
E. and her husband, Raymond E. Cline of Goldendale; four sons, William R.
and his wife, Vikki of Goldendale, Steven P. and his wife, Heather of Forks,
Wash., David W. of Long Creek, Ore., and Christopher J. and his wife, Laura
of Goldendale; seven grandchildren, Daniel, Molly, Cody, Katie, Brianne,
Jaryd and Jessica; as well as his mother, Pauline Carroll of Toppenish also
survives.
He was preceded in death by his father, step-father and
one brother.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 2 at 4 p.m.
at the New Life Assembly of God Church with Fr. Thomas V. Lane of the Holy
Trinity Catholic Church officiating.
Interment will be in the Holy Trinity Cemetery with military
honors conducted by Louis Leidl Post No. 116 American Legion. Pallbearers
included Ron Rowe, Richard Lawson, Dick Thomas, Mike Goodpaster, Mike Lindhe
and Mike Counts. Honorary pallbearers were Herb Callen, Jay Olson, Fred Sprenger,
Ted Notman, Elmer Reed and Pat Martin.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions
be made to the Bill Barthlow Memorial Athletic Scholarship Fund in care of
Klickitat Valley Bank, PO Box 167, Goldendale, WA 98620.
