WILLA FRANKLIN
Willa Ruth Franklin, a former White Salmon resident,
died Feb. 8, 1999, in The Dalles, Ore., at the age of 89.
Mrs. Franklin was born Dec.13, 1909, in Liberty, Ariz.,
to June and Myrtle (MacDonald) Brewster. She grew up in Arizona, riding her
horse two miles to school until the eighth grade. She moved to Los Angeles
in the 9th grade and went to
boarding school.
Mrs. Franklin married Ernest Franklin on Dec. 30, 1925.
The couple lived in Escondido and Los Angeles, Calif. They pastored various
Free Methodist churches around the country and also did youth evangelistic
work for many denominations. The couple came to White Salmon in 1981.
Mrs. Franklin was a member of the Free Methodist Church.
She enjoyed crafts, taught Sunday School and played the piano for churches.
She is survived by sons David Franklin, Anaheim, Calif.,
Arthur Franklin, Bowling Green, Ky., Gerald Franklin, Kenmore, and James
Franklin, White Salmon; sister Margery Bloomfield, Payson, Ariz., and 10
grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 1 great, great-grandchild. She
was preceded in death by her husband in March 13, 1983, daughter Myrtle,
infant son Gordon and granddaughter Patti.
Graveside services for Mrs. Franklin were held Friday,
Feb.12, 1999, at 11 a.m. at the White Salmon Cemetery.
Arrangements were made by Gardner Funeral Home, White
Salmon.
