WALTER SKELTON
Walter Ross Skelton, a longtime White Salmon resident,
died June 15, in White Salmon, at the age of 78.
Mr. Skelton was born March 19, 1910, in Leedey, Okla.,
to Sadie (Morlan) and Grover Skelton. He was raised in Oklahoma. He married
Elizabeth A. Allen on May 2, 1930, in Oklahoma. They came to the mid-Colombia
in 1935 and settled in White Salmon in the 1940s. He was a carpenter and
built many of the area homes, including the Methodist Church and Bonneville
Dam. He loved to fish and hunt and was a great outdoorsman. He spent a lot
of time camping and he was a great lover of little children.
He was survived by his wife, Elizabeth, White Salmon;
children William Skelton, Modesto, Calif., Bonnie Day, Camargo, Okla.; brothers
Fred Skelton, Haskell, Okla., Carl Skelton, Leedey, Okla.; sisters Betty
Kauk, Leedey, Okla., Dorothy Combs, Elk City, Okla.; five grandchildren and
two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Joe.
Graveside services were held Saturday at 11 a.m., with
Rev. Arthur Dickie officiating. Interment was in the White Salmon Cemetery.
