OBITUARY
Mrs. John A. Hagen, one of the oldest residents of the
Centerville section, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Matt Crocker,
on August 14, 1981, being 79 years, 11 month and 23 days old.
Walborg Seppanen was born in and Soumussalmella, Finland
on August 21, 1851. She came to the United States in 1874 and settled in
Calumet, Michigan where she was married that same year to John Hagen To this
union was born four children.
In 1877 Mr. and Mrs. Hagen came to Centerville, Washington
where they took up a homestead. Mr. Hagen was pastor of the Finnish Lutheran
Church for several years before his death, which occurred on April 6, 1919.
Mrs. Hagen is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Matt Crocker,
and several nieces and nephews in Centerville, besides a host of other relatives
and friends in both America and Finland.
To those who knew her Mrs. Hagen was a fine example of
a Christian woman, always kind, considerate, and thoughtful of those with
whom she associated.
"And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn away to righteousness, as the stars forever and ever."
Funeral services were held from the Finnish Lutheran church at Centerville Sunday, August 16th, at 2 o'clock, Wilhelm Basi officiating. Interment followed and the Centerville Grange cemetery.

The funeral of the late Mrs. Hagen, who died Friday, was held Sunday at the Finnish Church, Rev. Basi officiating.
